Journalists and other representatives of the media are invited to contact ABI Research to learn more about this significant development and to discuss its implications with our industry analysts.Intel and Yahoo! today announced a partnership to bring widgets to the TV. Widgets are targeted applications that allow consumers to access web services in a quick and direct fashion.
The two companies will offer both software and hardware support to consumer electronics OEMs as well as content owners and application developers who want to take popular web services and content and extend them to the living room.
ABI Research director Michael Wolf comments: "These two companies are looking to extend an approach for accessing web services that has been successful in the PC and mobile domains. We believe this effort could help jump-start the living room web marketplace, one in which simple, easy-to-use consumer applications will be absolutely critical." [ABI Research]
