Microsoft Licenses Adobe Flash Lite for Mobile Web

Software provider Adobe Systems announced Microsoft has licensed its Adobe Flash Lite runtime to enable web browsing of Flash Player-compatible content on future editions of Windows Mobile-based handsets. Microsoft will also license Adobe Reader LE software for viewing Adobe PDF documents like email attachments and web content, with both Adobe products available to all OEMs who license Windows Mobile software.

Flash Lite also runs on Symbian 60, Qualcomm's BREW and other embedded OEM operating systems. "People want vibrant web experiences and access to entertainment and information anywhere, anytime," said Microsoft's mobile communications business GM John O'Rourke in a prepared statement. "Bringing Flash Lite and Reader LE to the Windows Mobile experience will give consumers more of their favorite websites on the go." [FierceDeveloper]
