Motorola, Inc. announced (20/6) the Motorola P790 Portable Charger, adding an innovative new level of convenience to the mobile experience. The P790 provides mobile professionals and consumers an easy way to keep their conversations on track by enabling them to easily charge their mobile handsets or Bluetooth headsets using the small, wire-free power unit.

The P790’s petite size and form factor, with smooth rounded edges, is a stylish complement to Motorola’s chic line of handsets. The portable charger fits easily into a purse or pocket and plugs into the mini-USB port on Motorola phones and headsets for instant power, eliminating the need for charger cables or battery changes. The P790 Portable Charger also shows off Motorola’s brilliant new colour palette and will be available in pink, orange, green, purple, blue and black.

In addition to providing longer talk-times, the P790 allows users prolonged access to entertaining multimedia features or productivity tools that come with many Motorola handsets. The P790 holds up to two full battery charges for handsets and more than 10 full Bluetooth headset charges.

“Motorola understands the important role that our mobile handsets play in the lives of consumers and professionals, providing them with means to stay connected for both personal and business communications,” said Steen Ronholt, Director and General Manager, MobileME, High Growth Markets, Motorola.

“Our sleek and stylishly new P790 Portable Chargers provide the additional boost that these mobile users need to meet the increasingly demanding power and performance requirements placed on today’s mobile devices.”

The P790 Portable Charger has a 1700mAh battery and is compatible with Motorola handsets and accessories that use a mini-USB connector. The unit measures 73.6x 51.4x 23.7 mm and weighs in at 79 grams and is expected to be available Q3 2006
